PTO doesn't affect utilization, but yeah I have a feeling your vacation will be extended indefinitely.
You take 5 weeks of PTO when your utilization already is at only 75%?! Bold move!
If you want to sell your soul, come to federal. The work sucks, but its mostly 40 hour weeks, and the bench is empty

Dude, with your attitude right now, I'm surprised you're not already fired. Sorry to say, but to the firm, it's all about the number. You get paid X amount each year. You'd better bring in 2X at least, or else they're not making money having you. Also, Your PTO doesn't mean anything if you get canned. Just saying.
Wtf guys, what's with all the negativity. OP has been on the bench for only a month. What's the harm in taking PTO?
I have heard some things about layoffs but no concrete info from anyone. Been on the bench 2.5 months. Booked on a project that cancelled after holding me for two weeks. Suffering now lol
I dunno, HR told me to burn PTO I preserve my chargeability
Yes I've been hearing about the layoffs. But It all depends in my opinion. the idea to take PTO is to save your ass if u can't find a project. But it's the last resort. In the mean time, I strongly suggest you try the hardest to get on a project (even BD work if needed). I agree with A2, Being at 75% chargeability + 5 weeks of PTO = chopping block.
Lol so when am I supposed to use these 5 weeks of PTO, I'll lose it if I don't use it...
Pretty messed up to get canned for using your PTO
Ouch. Better spend a good amount of that PTO on networking! Looking forward to when we can DM on here to help each other out. Good luck!
Bold move taking PTO. I'd be at the office doing some serious networking to find a role. Otherwise do networking outside the company for a new job.
What level?
If there isn't a pay cut for an existing employee to switch to fed, it wouldn't be a horrible idea. If the work is truly that autopilot, could also be a solid rotation option for those top performers on burnout risk to level out for a few months (yes, I know in most cases one currently must apply as if moving companies, but just a thought)
