Anyone made the switch from Tax/Audit to analyst/Consulting?
What's your favorite thing about the switch?

I just received an offer from Accenture as an Analyst for something unrelated to my last position.
Really fired up. 🎉

Nicee congratulations. I think Accenture is definitely loosening up when it comes to resume screens. I got a Consultant interview being from tax, though I wasn't invited back aha.

funny

I think there's definitely exponential difficulty transitioning straight to a C role that asks for 3-5 years experience coming from a completely different field as opposed to analyst - the hiring manager wasnt interested in interviewing me.

I plan to transition to tax technology consulting (will be receiving an offer) and may try general tech consulting down the road!

Switched from audit to consulting.
Better wlb. Better comp. Less pressure on budgets. More personable.
Overall more chill service line and being treated as an adult.
I'm being asked more to be relaxed with clients rather than that "pressure them for support" approach from audit.

That's great, do you mind me asking which firm?

How did you get the interview? Referral? Did your audit/tax experience help in the interview?

Referrals, and the tax just showed I understood tech 🤷‍♂️

What kind of consulting?

Tech

Can you pleeeeease give me advice on how? I’m trying to go from a field that’s even more related and can’t land an interview

I’ve been with my current company for a little over 5 years now and since the start of the pandemic have been WFH. I absolutely love WFH and have always wanted a position in which I could WFH. There is talk of bringing everyone back to the office full time and that’s not what I would like to happen. I’ve been searching for a new position in which it would be a remote role. My current company also said I am maxed out in term of what they are willing to pay salary wise.

I’ve noticed on Glassdoor, salaries for my level (Director) are higher than my base but have similar bonus opportunity. At what level of pay gap would you push or make a stink? In hindsight I should have pushed more during the hiring process. At 160k base now, seeing ranges in the 170s to low 180s. These are specific to my current company.
