Hi there, got an interview with for a BA in consulting (insurance technology) but I’m kind of skeptical. I’m coming from another integrator consulting company. 1) What is the culture like in EY? Are you “agile”. 2) Would working in a specific service line in insurance meant it’s hard to exit?
3) Does EY still use utilisation for consulting? 4) Can I work on international projects? Any nice perks and benefits? Thank you!

It’s about process to solve problems, not “gut” or “instinct” or “opinion” or “experience”. Incredibly powerful, and incredibly scalable. Usually takes experienced hires 12-18 months to figure out (or not).
Could you explain a bit more? How does that impact your daily decisions?
Not big 4 but coming from a small firm. MBB is way more about process than problem solving. Can’t get used to it.
Really delayed reply. Not necessarily saying it’s the wrong approach but all my bcg cases have stressed really strongly who the clients are, how to cater to their wishes, how to track everything, how to present everything. At the small firm it was really much more about how do we solve this problem and get the the best answer and presentation was really just about how to make the message clear and concise
I’ve been MBB and now not. Agree that McK has a solid process to solve problems. But disagree that “gut” or “instinct” is the alternative. Something else called “experience” is a solid alternative to the disciplined process. The McK process has a high likelihood of proving the initial hypothesis. And it includes a lot of reference to “firm experts”. But, most of those experts have limited industry experience, mostly consulting experience.
This is a better description of my point above. The process focus makes things happen but is a little less concerned about exactly why action is being taken than I would prefer. Big companies are so stuck in the mud though that this is usually a net positive .
Usually takes 18 months for B4 to make it (or not) here as well. Stick with it, OP
