Apologies for the late follow-up. It says I don't have enough "likes" to DM people, but I'd love to chat (if you're still open of course). I'm approaching 2-year mark as an IA plus I had close to a year in public accounting before then.
Typically: 3 years in is the sweet spot (2 years min). 5+ makes it tough with your billing rate (if previously in IA consulting) and/or your likely desired salary…compared to the value you can provide for the first couple years.
You could shoot your shot at either. I work for a top 15 mid-market focused firm. While most promotions are no longer automatic based on years experience, senior still seems to be the exception and you just “get it” at the 2 or 3-year mark. You might as well save yourself a hurdle if you can since you have a few years in already.
