As an engineer, how much do you interact with your local colleges and schools to grow engagement in engineering? And how?

Pretty much not at all at this point. I occasionally will go to job fairs to universities with my company, but that’s about it.

My last company was really active at our local college, went to the job fairs every year and would also offer job shadowing for students. Where I’m at now doesn’t do anything that I am aware of, might be timing too. Seems like career prospects aren’t what they used to be either.

A member in our department is on the board at our local college to attempt to pull engineers into industrial environments. I do wish our HR would attend high school career fairs in the area.

Me and a colleague had offspring in a high school “engineering prep” class. We went for a few years and gave a presentation about our R&D engineering experiences. It went well. We told the teacher we would keep doing it if he wanted but we never heard from him again.

Let’s stop pushing people into engineering so our pay goes up l

I live in an industrial area. All of the plants send people to an event called ChemExpo. Where we do experiments with all the local middle school students. We also judge school and regional science fairs and have recruiting events at the universities and colleges in the area.

I do a bit but not a good amount. I should probably help out more.

I wish I did more

Advice needed!
I have been a strategy and planning associate for a year and a half (first job out of college), I found that I'm not really cut out for this sector of advertising and would like to get more into the creative area. I've applied to countless copywriting jobs but only get rejections. Does anyone have any advice? Are there other areas I should be looking? I'm getting so discouraged at this point so any feedback would be helpful.

So I am working as a UI UX designer since Jan22. I started with a really good project (everything from the scratch) with research, knowing the user etc. The project went really well. It was my first project that I handled individually. I got another project it also went well. Then I was told to work directly with a client, it's been 2 months already we work late hours and also on weekend (asked by the client). It feels like my personal life is gone. Do you think I should change job?
