Certainly the BA should have been brighter... but you/PM didn’t include basic onboarding like airport people mostly fly in to, hotel options, arrival times, etc.? That’s also poor planning
@M3 - (your point on alignment regardless of situation is duly noted)
You’re right - he actually is from a different country - however, I almost give less of an excuse because of that.... Like many of us, I’ve traveled abroad for work many times... and if it’s the first time on site, I’m always even MORE careful about airport, hotel, transportation than otherwise would be when traveling in my home country, because I make no assumptions about knowing my way around.
At any rate - at the time it was frustrating as hell, but hopefully will be able laugh at this (along with the BA) in the future
Check in hotel. Receptionist looked at me funny and gave me key and room #. Open door. Saw this big fat guy sitting on bed naked, eating pizza and watching TV. We both shocked out of our wits. Turned out we had the same exact name and receptionist made a mistake.
This is why I ALWAYS use the manual door lock
Omg 👆🏻 😂😂😂
I booked a ticket from LGA during a month of brutal work hours. Took train to Newark and asked an agent why I couldn’t find my gate.... I was at the wrong airport duh
Ended up spending the night in NY and missed a wake in Detroit
Did same, luckily was able to get on a flight to my destination at EWR...talk about feeling dumb.
It was the first day of the project so our director asked all of us to come to LA a day before so that we won’t be late to the meeting at any cost on Monday. Everyone reached LA Sunday evening except an associate. She came directly to the meeting on Monday morning, introduced her and spent sometime in the first session, did not give f to take notes at all (she was most junior. Finally managers ended up taking notes while running the show). After 2 hours into the project kick off, she started packing the stuff and left to airport to catch flight. she group chatted that she was leaving to attend another meeting for her other project in diff city. For a sec, we were like wtf..
Needless to say she was rolled off next second and never considered for any future assignments..
Clearly she was just too important for ya’ll
Shown up to pick up my rental car only to realize I booked it at the client site city with my hotel instead of the airport
My name and a MDs name is same except for middle initial. His EA would continually make travel reservations and send them to me or do last minute changes and send to me. I called and emailed her several times to rectify and it never got better so I told the MD and then added an outlook rule to send her email to recycle bin. Guess The EA learned the hard way and is no longer around.
As an associate, was flying to la from DC for week one of project. At the TSA check my boarding pass won’t scan, neither me nor the agent could figure it out for 5-10 min. Someone from the line stepped up and pointed out I was at reagan instead of Dulles. Ended up paying $900 for change. Was nervous about the expense but I did a bang up job on the engagement that and no one noticed
Knew a coworker that went to Charleston, SC instead of Charleston, WV.
I found a pile of toenail clipping in my bed when I pulled down the sheets. 🤮
Barf 🤢
At the end of the day, do the BAs take the blame or manager?
Client needed to move the meeting to a day later. I changed my flight, but forgot to change my hotel reservation. I almost had to bunk with my AE
partner I worked with in London once booked a trip from London to India to see the CeO of a client. Got out of London fine but when he landed in India he hadn’t got a visa and had to phone the client at 2am to get a 24 hr pass into the country then was escorted onto the next BA flight home. Embarrassing to say the least. Not sure why he was allowed on the flight out but ...
Limited flight options for a direct flight on UAL, so I booked a connecting flight from LGA to DC to ORD. Turns out the connection wasn’t at the same airport, for some reason the travel system connected me in DC, but Reagan to Dulles...only 45 minute layover but somehow made it.
Someone was watching over you for you to have been able to make it from Reagan to Dulles in time 😂😂
