I was hired as a Lateral Associate from a firm you’ve never heard of. Shoot your shot. But yes hiring in some offices is less open to laterals these days

like

Any insight into which offices/markets are more open towards lateral hires?

Our interns all started and are on projects and we’re retaining the same hiring pipeline we always do, e.g. started campus recruiting right now for fall 2021

like

Glad to hear things are going well! Are Business Analyst applications for experienced hires processed on a rolling basis or with that campus cohort?

I don’t mean to be rude, but if you were someone laid off why would a “more prestigious” firm hire you?

You are all very sweet for sugar-coating it for SC1. Personally, I feel like SC1’s outlook is naive, uninformed, and reminds me very much of an arrogant millennial who hasn’t experienced a recession or a drop in the market. SC1, Bless your heart for thinking that only low performers are being let go... you should really educate yourself on business acumen and learn about supply and demand... if your practice isn’t selling, you have to reduce head count to make up for the drop in revenue. Deloitte is full of smart, capable high-performers so sometimes, we have to let the good ones go. And seriously?!?!?! “Prove me wrong”??? I don’t know who you think you are but that is the most condescending, self-absorbed, arrogant comment I’ve ever seen... the OP owes you nothing and doesn’t need to prove anything to you. And if you have to preface with “I don’t mean to be rude” then you’re probably being rude and should just keep your thoughts to yourself. I’m honestly disgusted right now. OP - Keep your chin up and continue to shoot for the stars. I have no doubt you learned a lot in your tenure here at Deloitte and will land on your feet (and quite possibly be even happier in your new role). Best of luck to you!

From my experience and anecdotal evidence, you’re probably best chance of success out of MBB is McKinsey. They’ve done the best out of having a lateral pipeline and integrating them into the firm’s culture.

like

The consulting industry is contracting, then they have the wave of 2020 new hires to deal with - I’d look into an industry gig.

Much appreciated - thank you!

S&O doesn’t exist.

like

OP stated that they were hired into Deloitte S&O... not that they were currently working in S&O. Not sure what you were trying to gain by your comment but it pretty much validated our firm’s reputation. Cheers to you, D1.

What market are you in OP? Maybe someone can help/offer guidance locally.

Currently based in Central (Dallas) - open to staying here but looking to move to West or East (LA, SF, or NY) if possible. Have family on both coasts and client experience has been primarily with media/entertainment, financial services, & technology
