Hi everyone. A PDM specialist here. Joined Deloitte 5+ years back as ‘Senior Solution Engineer -On-site’.Later in June 2017 all these ‘on-site’ folks got rebranded as PDM. Slowly started to realize how PDM is getting sidelined as a ‘discountable’ group. Sometimes I feel contract jobs are better than being at PDM , but obviously tied up with D for visa related issues. No career progression so far and don’t see any positive changes in the near future as well.I think it’s high time to call it a day.

What do you do at Amazon? Are you an area manager?
Also I got my master in engineering and while it was a fun experience (met some good friends) I don’t feel like it helped my career very much (started at the same level as undergrads and only really acts as a conversation piece). So I guess I’d only recommend it for connections
I feel you. Our HR dept was worthless and I was in the same boat getting ghosted or “you don’t have the skills or you haven’t been in role long enough maybe next year”. If it’s possible or you have a good relationship with your boss, that’s how I did it. My boss reached out to a bunch of connections he had in corporate until we found a team that was looking to backfill an analyst role and I got the interviews. Ie . Moral of the story is don’t go through HR or regular means, definitely try to network as much as possible
Have you thought about other areas in Amazon that are sports related? Media? We also have a whole sports vertical here in AWS. I think getting a supplemental degree can help, but nothing beats experience. Amazon is such a huge company, you should also try to pivot into an org closer aligned to what your goals/interests are.
Media would be great but I’m not sure where I can find experience that would allow me to transfer teams. Any place I look to is always looking for experience and it seems like if I can’t intern there, the opportunity is gone.
