Not true. Senior Manager at Deloitte would equate to a director at KPMG.
Deloitte 3 and 6 sound like the kind of people that don't think there's a world outside the US.
Accenture 1 spent 3 years at Deloitte Consulting in Australia and remembers a time when there was no SM Rank at Deloitte AU (went from M to D to P) but a "2 year to Director" internal designation before Deloitte decided to meet the market (aka other 3 of the Big 4) and introduced the SM Rank in 2018.
Newsflash: Deloitte AU doesn't have MDs. Director is very much a rank here after SM and before partner. Some, less sales focused Directors might go the Principal route (which in AU is not a Partner level rank) before being admitted as Partner.
Her leaders and Partners are gaslighting her.
Titles do matter. Partners often argue that titles don’t matter. It’s what you’re doing. Blah blah. Early in your career you want to get promoted and attain a SM or Director title as fast as you can. You can negotiate better remuneration and responsibilities later. Sounds like sour grapes from KPMG. Perhaps the kpmg leaders are saying that she’s already good enough to be a senior manager. They should have promoted her.
This is exactly on point. Partners that say titles don’t matter are usually weaker partners that deep down know that the title matters more for them than it does their stronger peers :)
Lol 😂 this is the weirdest thing I’ve heard in a while 🤦🏻♂️
Senior manager at Kpmg would be equivalent to manager at Deloitte
Either KPMG is severely holding her back or Deloitte is desperate. An M at KPMG does not equal an SM at DC. I’d tell her to bite their arm off and tell KPMG to go swivel.
Does it matter? Even if it were a lateral title change (it’s not) is the offer better than her current situation? I lateraled from ACN to D for a huge pay increase, but same title. Totally worth it for me, I’m sure D SM is gonna make more especially as an exp hire
Iirc top end of M at KPMG is equivalent to SM at other firms. KPMG jumps from M to AD.
What KPMG calls AD, Deloitte Consulting calls SM.
Disagree. The upward path alone should be enough to see through that comparison
Why did she even inform her KPMG partners about the SM opportunity at D?
Might be different in Australia but in the US SM is most definitely higher than a M at KPMG and you will rarely see Deloitte US hire you at a higher level than your current unless you were already in a promotion pipeline and would be giving that up to make the move.
That’s not true - sounds like they’re jelly
Rising Star
Worked at both in Consulting in Aus - the general levels are:
Con
Senior Con
Manager
Senior Manager/Associate Director
Director
Partner
Look at the pay and responsibilities (ie expected BD targets)… All of the big 4 will try and say their firm is superior to the other. Same shit, different coloured t shirt.
KPMG are only saying that so they don’t have to openly acknowledge that your sister in law should already have been promoted beyond Manager.
Not true!!
Deloitte Australia has been known to offer SM to just about anyone.
Exact opposite
How much $
😂😂😂
It’s the Big 3 and KPMG for a reason so I would say not true at all.
Big 2 now; or are we still pretending PwC plays in this league after their recent scandal and spin-off😂
