I’ve worked at AT&T as a sales consultant for 6 years and 8 months where we prospect, uncover, and close on leads. I’ve used Salesforce for the past 4 years during my tenure. I’ve done B2B sales where I’ve received awards for it for 2 years consecutively. Loads of troubleshooting, uncovering needs through consultative styled selling, and tech app subscriptions.
I was wondering if I have the necessary skills to transition into a tech sales role. If so, what would be the best role/fit for me?Amazon Salesforce Google @

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

I currently have an offer at a smaller company (200M and also PE) for a pay increase and title bump to assistant controller. Also hybrid and only 30-40 min from my house.
Will this hurt or help my long terms goals of eventually being at a much bigger organization?
FYI I will basically be getting to the asst controller level with 5 years of experience
Now that I write this it sounds like a no brainer lol but open to hearing y’all’s input.
I was also going to say stay for the IPO but that could be a while before lockup is over and that assumes you have equity. I’d say go for the new job. Working at the smaller companies sometimes build greater credibility because people know you a) can’t hide in a sea of peers b) almost always wear multiple hats c) can’t throw money at everything so you’re likely creative d) very likely have a bigger personal commitment (time and effort) because of a, b, and c.
