Thankfully, I don't really feel this way. I'd say we have a pretty supportive environment and my managers trust me to get the job done. I don't think I'd like to have to go and get permission all the time.
That sounds like a dream. I feel like I spend half my week chasing approvals before I even touch a client. Honestly, selling internally drains me more than external pitches ever do.
Totally relate. Internal selling can drain more energy than the actual pitch. Half the time it feels like we are convincing finance more than the client. That cannot be the best use of sales effort.
Yes! The irony is that if leadership trusted sales to do its job, the whole cycle would speed up. We lose momentum fighting our own processes instead of focusing on customers.
Internal selling is half the battle. Ops, finance, legal - sometimes they're harder to convince than the actual customer.
If I wanted to beg finance, ops, and legal for scraps, I’d be in politics, not sales.
