McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

WFH. We love to chitchat when together, which I feel we would do everyday if we were on site. Or an onsite restroom break could turn into a walk to the break room for a snack that could take up to 15 mins vs at home, 5m
That’s very true. I am guilty of this 😅 I love going into the office to see people and catch up, walk to get coffee together, lunch, etc 😂
I statistically know that staff is more productive working remote, however, as long as they are working and honest about they are more productive.
In the Med Records Dept., it is more productive in-office. Due to privacy concerns, it is best that only computers within this office deal with them. Fact is, of course, that a computer is a computer and as long as you can access the data base you can send the info to any other computer where it needs to go. There are other departments where work-from-home is just as productive because all they need is a phone and a computer to get the job done. It doesn't matter if that phone and computer are in the spare bedroom or in the Administrative Offices complex.
I haven’t thought of how this affects medical records before!
Depends on the team member we are looking at. Some are way more productive at home without people to chat with. Others are less productive because they get distracted by all the not-people aspects. But honestly, I think these are usually the same people, so they just aren't productive anywhere.
Yeah some people thrive on WFH or being alone but some don’t!
Def WFH
It’s easier to concentrate when there’s no distractions or other people around for sure.
WFH
That seems to be what most are saying too!
And I don’t mind working weekends on wfh
I do work m-f but sometimes it requires working additional hours so weekends are ok when working from home
Some days I require the focused solitude of my home office to tackle complex reports or delve into strategic planning. Other days I crave the energy of the office, brainstorming with colleagues over a whiteboard or sharing ideas in a team meeting. Depends on what I'm feeling.
I’m the same!! I enjoy going in to work.
It helps me productive at home, I don't have to leave home to go to work, and I get to sit at home in my room, secluded until my breaks and meal time.
A lot of people seem to prefer this too!
I think it’s equivalent, except WFH allows you to also be personally productive.
True! WFH while having you by children is not productive but the tasks you mentioned are flexible so they’re easier to manage with your work.
For me, I'm more productive at home.
