which agencies are hiring juniors?
EY is hiring

Good morning. I am currently a senior associate in BugLaw, and I have applied to several trial attorney jobs in Chicago offices of federal agencies since the start of the pandemic. According to usajobs.gov, my applications to the DOJ and CFTC were “referred,” and my application to the SEC was received and my GS scale verified. But I haven’t received any updates on these applications in over a month. Does anyone here have any insights on these or on federal hiring generally? Thanks!
After submitting my resume for the Global Finance and Business Management full time position at JP Morgan (my dream job!), I got a HireVue invite the next day! However, I completed it 9 days ago and still have no response....
When do we get a response in average, and after how much time does it mean I probably am not getting an offer to continue?
Thanks!

What US law firms tend to hire more LLMs?
As an ADC applying this summer for 2022 start, I haven’t gotten a chance to connect with any L.E.K. Consulting members and I really want to get to know the company better before moving on with my application. Any L.E.K. Consulting fish out there willing to spare a few minutes to chat about their work, the company, the culture etc? Thanks!

Breaking into the legal field right after graduation can feel tough, especially with so many postings asking for “3+ years” of experience. What helps is targeting entry-level roles with transferable skills (administrative assistant, receptionist, records clerk, or office coordinator in a law firm), since those often transition into legal assistant responsibilities. Networking with local attorneys and applying through smaller or boutique firms (not just the big ones) can also open doors.
When I was in a similar spot, I connected with a job search specialist who helped me frame my resume for roles I didn’t think I qualified for, and that made all the difference. You can reach him at georgerobinsonhiringteam.gmail.com if you’d like some tailored support.
Sometimes a genuine interest in law — backed by coursework, internships, or even the LSAT — is enough for firms to overlook a missing “three years of experience.” Strong administrative skills and tech fluency often seal the deal. When I recruit for firms, I remind them: No one’s born with three years of anything. Every skill is learned, and smart employers know when to bet on potential.
Not personally in the legal or law field, would internships be an option? Something to get that hands-on experience before returning to school.
Absolutely. I know the ‘entry level’ requirements for a lot of roles right now are above and beyond what they should be. It could be a good opening to reach out and network with others in the field and in the area.
