Does Zoom whitening really damage the enamel? My German dentist tells me not to do any bleaching but I found another former USAF dentist in another city that offers Zoom whitening and he said as long as it’s controlled in the office there won’t be permanent damage to the teeth. Anyone has done that before and is it becoming easier to stain and then you have to do it every two years or so? Does the hypersensitivity last long even after the treatment?

Don't use any bleach-based products or services to whiten your teeth, it wares away dental enamel and causes expensive treatment down the line. Often it's unnecessary since perfect white teeth is unnatural. I'd explore other options with your dentist first if there's a serious issue. Meet a hygienist every 6 months and go with a fluoride application

I like to think my teeth are pretty white and my dentist agrees. I did the Crest white strips once but sensitivity was so bad that I had to stop after like a week. Now I just use Crest 3d white toothpaste and I think it does a pretty good job.

Now I’m going to have nightmares

funny

Dentist probably gets a rebate off the procedure - so you pay them and the company producing the chemical pays them. Not providing medical advice, just noting a dentist may have multiple revenue streams which impacts their interpretation of the side effects

The German dentist doesn’t recommend the crest whitening strips either and said hydrogen peroxide whitening is banned in Germany. But I do find German brands that contain very low h2o2 and doesn’t have any effect at all. My ex bf is a USAF dentist and he said it’s fine and also enough to use the strips. But he would also use the whitening tray on himself. His dentist friends also use the home kits brought back from their office. So I’m really confused about the real side effect. If it’s really bad, why would they use it on themselves?

Comforting others:
When someone tells me bad news regarding their health, I say everything I am supposed to say (I’m sorry to hear that, I’m here for you, etc) EXCEPT “everything is going to be ok”. Because I can’t guarantee that and I really don’t know if everything is going to be ok. I was taken aback recently when a friend told me I am calloused and cold-hearted for not being able to say those words. Is she right? Should I start saying this for the purposes of providing comfort only??

Any advice as to how to help my other-half (who has bouts of anxiety and depression) apply to jobs? He’s going through a particularly rough patch at the moment. We had a big chat the other day which was great! However, even if we agreed that I’m doing everything I can for him (his words) it has to come from him (which we both agreed). He’s having a real mental block (I think with writing cover letters mostly) he describes staring at the screen feeling incapable. Any suggestions?

Had an FET transfer and just got the news that the pregnancy test is negative. Feeling very defeated about it. All my labs are good (AMH 3.1) and the embryos were PGA tested. Have only two left now, and this was the best quality one. The irony is I did feel pregnant couple days after transfer but then I stopped feeling pregnant. I read that some women don’t really “feel” pregnant until 6-7 weeks… but i did “feel” then stopped. It just sucks. If you have any advice for coping, I’d appreciate it.

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice?
