Enrollment season is here. Given we’re not returning to the office anytime in the near future, I’m contemplating whether to reduce coverage e.g. cancel commuter benefit (WageWorks) and high-cost deductible plans. Any thoughts?

Are you handling HR for the company or are you speaking from employee perspective. If from the HR perspective, it might be a good idea to survey the employees on the ides of cutting WageWorks and potentially supplementing with a different benefit.

like

Some of our clients are now doing a wfh stipend in lieu of commuter benefits

like

Ummm, I don’t know your benefits but I’m almost certain you’re not locked into WageWorks commuter benefit and can be changed at anytime (and should of been changed a long time ago). Why would you cancel your health insurance for the entire year? Not smart.

Reducing certain benefits not canceling.

Our HR reached out the month COVID happened to see if any of us wanted to cancel our commuter benefits. This can be changed, updated, canceled anytime as long as we submit the forms to payroll. That's about the only change I did. Not sure on if you meant switching to HDHP for lower cost plans which is what I currently have as well knowing how often I get sick/injured - not WFH related but in general.
