Folks, recently moved to an employer who doesn't offer 401k match and I am considering a traditional IRA to rollover my ~75k 401k funds.
Any bank recommendations which offers the best fee/rate compared to the benefits ? Potentially some level of wealth mgmt for a smaller fee compared to the $25 + expense ratios with fidelity??

Look up pro-rata rules before you decide to do that roll over

Vanguard and its not even close. But if you are looking to consolidate your account Schwab is nice since they offer a pretty good checking account.

How does vanguard compare to Personal Capitals service? Seems like vanguard would limit or at least push you into vanguard funds

Building onto C1’s comment above...

I naively rolled over my Trad 401k balance from my former employer’s plan into a Trad IRA and now I screwed my ability to do Backdoor Roth due to pro rata rules. Fortunately my new employer’s plan offer after-tax contributions automatically converted to Roth (Mega Backdoor)

Yup! I think they call it a reverse rollover. Nice to know it's an option.

Living in Van. Previously lived in Toronto. Obviously rent prices are high as is cost of living. Generally go out and spend more often living in a city. Boyfriend and I on good salary but not saving much due to the above. Before we move home to our own country, we’d love to spend a year close to Vancouver where rent is cheaper, temptation is less, to save. A commute to Vancouver 1-2 times a month needs to be possible (his job). That can be a flight if it’s not crazy. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Hi!

I recently did a job interview and I made it clear to the HR my expectation salary is 60k a year, non negotiable.
Today I got the job offer and they are offering me 54k. My current company is making me 50k with tons of benefits which is why I am asking for 60k.

Should I accept the offer or renegotiate?

Hi-I have 120K in cash in HYSA. After keeping emergency fund aside. Still have 75-80K available that I plan to invest. After 401k, HSA, IRA and monthly expenses: we are left with 6K every month. So investing 12K every month in market. My worry is with that rate - it will take us 12-14 months to move the extra 75-80K mentioned above. However do not want to make a bulk move. Any advise how to plan the switch. At present have 60K invested in stocks. Thanks

I just got a really great offer, only downside is the eligibility for maternity leave is after 12 months of employment. I want to see if I could negotiate being eligible earlier but I also don’t want them to think I’m pregnant when I’m not actually… How would you approach the conversation?

I am doing a back door Roth IRA through Vanguard and while everything makes sense to me, I am unsure if an additional $6000 be invested for a non working spouse. We satisfy the criteria but two questions - 1) Is this still valid I.e., $12k can be invested for 2021? And 2) Any insight into how this is done - Vanguard doesn’t let me add more than $6k as it’s above the individual limit. I tried searching the bowl for specific answers but wasn’t successful. Inputs appreciated.
