For kpmg pension you’re 100% vested after 3 years. Anyone know when the clock for this starts? Start date? Or a year later? It’s not very clear and I called kpmg but they don’t seem to know either 😂

Or at age 59.5. Whatever occurs first.

I’m vested but I think it will be a cold day in hell before I see any money from that pension.

like

Look in the plan documents. There is probably a plan year and a number of hours you must work to get a vesting period in that plan year.

like

Age + Years of Service = 72, or 59.5 years old. Whichever happens first

like

Is it a defined benefit pension, or defined contribution?

like

Don’t think any firms have defined benefit anymore.

like

It’s defined benefit. Last of a dying breed. The plan year is April to March but if you go on SSC and pull down your statement it tells you all the details.

like

There’s a requirement to work 1,000 hours in a plan year as well I believe. If you are trying to time your vesting with when you want to quit, I’d call the plan administrator and ask the specifics.

As an example, I was a January 2015 hire and my latest statement says I have 2 years of plan service. My best guess is I will fully vest April 2018.

like

I *think* that vesting period starts immediately but where I was getting confused is when you are eligible (after 1 year). So I think everyone who comes into to the plan already has one year of service.

Assuming contribution...

Kpmg still has a pension?

It's a cash plan

They had a dbp about 10 years ago.

Defined benefit.

So years of service for vesting starts on April basically?

As a manager, I'm stepping but incredibly stress with the amount of moving parts. I don't have a strong rapport with the partner (Neither did the SM) to be open and transparent on how stressful I'm feeling without downgrading myself.

I'm sick to the stomach and very anxious, stressed at the suddenness of the thrust.

Help!

I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

For self employed: max SEP IRA/solo 401k->max roth IRA->max trad IRA->max HSA

Of course situations differ but in general?
