I left not explicitly because of inequitable treatment but for lack of professional development and substantive opportunities which I gather is an issue you’re facing. I’m so glad I made the move—I spent way too much time going back and forth about leaving/feeling guilty bc other colleagues LOVED the job aka got real work and hit hours.
I worked with a recruiter and tapped my network. I looked everywhere—BL, midlaw, and boutique. Ended up back in BL. What helped the most after getting offers was chatting with people who had left about their experiences.
You are correct. A big issue for me is a lack of substantive opportunities. The type of files I am staffed on are pretty terrible. I'm not really getting the chance to do good work and learn from senior associates or partners.
I’m going in house at a great company (competitive pay, remote etc). Honestly you just have to believe in yourself.. and please don’t jump ship without anything solid lined up that you’re happy about. Also network like crazy. I had my team heads literally target me out just because I was the nail that stuck out. Then it got to the point when I was over it, and starting just hitting the pavement looking for a new opportunity and close to what could be considered a dream opportunity fell on my plate. You can do it!

Look before you leap. Sometimes it's better, but sometimes it's even worse. Big law has a diversity problem. It's not just your firm. Some places are better than others but some are worse.
I found greener pastures making my last move (as a fourth year).
Don’t really know what I was looking for. Just needed out. I actually ended up working for my boss (now partner) after reaching out to him to serve as a reference. He was opposing counsel on a case and when I asked him to be a reference for apps, he took me to lunch and offered me a job based on my work as opposing on that case.
It was small to small slash when I started where I left, we were three attorneys / I was the third. My new place, it was going to be similar. I was to be the second associate with one boss. But the other associate was on leave dealing with personal things and within a week of being back, got let go. So it was working for a solo until I was working for myself.
