I have 2 offers, one from JPMC ( LOB IS Consumer and Community Banking) and the other from Wells Fargo. Both are giving similar roles, and exactly same pay. Location is Hyderabad. I tried for revision of pay but it didn't work.
Could anyone help me understand which one is better to join in terms of hikes, technology used and work life balance. I have to join on Tuesday, 16 Aug.

Network aggressively. Bar association events, affinity group events, cold emails, etc. It’s easiest to retool at your current firm if the conditions are right (decent reviews and headcount needs in the group you’re looking to join). If going from corp to lit, load up on litigation pro bono. Same goes the other way around. Always try to draw parallels between what you do in your current group and the kind of work in the group you want to join.
I wouldn’t sell yourself short up front. I went from IP lit to privacy lit with zero privacy experience and maintained class year. Just get knowledgeable about new area and have something to show your interest. I got my CIPP/US cert for example.
Do whatever you can to get some experience in your desired practice area. I can’t stress this enough. It took me literal years to find someone who’d take a chance on me and I think they did only because I had a little experience in the area (and because I’m generally a pleasant person/we hit it off in the interview). Then again, I’m not a big networker and I had some personal stuff that derailed me for a bit. Wishing you smoother sailing.
