Bain & Company Hi All. I am an Energy Engineer and 3 years of experience. I want to switch to a management consultancy because I think I would be a good fit for strategy consulting and want to move into ESG/Climate Financing. I would love to interview with your team if you’re looking to hire someone with this background (happy to share more via DMs).
The purpose of this post is to also ask for referrals so please let me know if I could reach out to you for that. TIA! McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group

It’s always different, and there are countless reasons why. People’s schedules push back second interviews. They’re waiting to officially win new business and take in new revenue. Paperwork can get in the way, or taking the time to interview other candidates or waiting for their first choice to accept or reject an offer. You’ve got to be down to go along for the ride. Sometimes the person interviewing you controls the money and can approve your role and salary on the spot, sometimes they’ve got to go through finance which can add time.
I’ve never waited six months. My last was about 1.5 months. I think 1-2 months should be expected and anything longer than that, take with a grain of salt.
A month and a day! Smaller (<100 people) independent agency in Brooklyn. New scope for an existing client. I would assume for agencies with holding companies, the bureaucracy is what takes the most time
Less then 72 hrs every time. I've never had a super senior role, so I assume it's different. But in my experience, people make up their minds about these things quickly.
Longest was I think 5 or 6 weeks. Shortest was like a weekend but we knew each other from previous work and they wanted me specifically.
I think 2-3 months is typical. Though I am currently in the offer stage for a thing I started interviewing for in March (paused through August) which will end up being an 8 month process when all is said and done.
