I worked in that organization before I’m so glad I left because they are infamous of high expectations with no staff support or transparency!! Speak up in a professional tone express your job duties and email and cc all who is involved. Unfortunately that place has no union. See if you can transfer to another department or leaving all together
Anytime ❤️
Sounds like something Catholic health of Long Island would do to their employees, but this makes me so glad i work my overnight shift where I currently am. I got my own private office when i run out of task and I just chill there and watch movies on my phone and keep the door shut with my feet up in a recliner. Not a soul bothers me
😂😂😂
If people are dumping work on you that's outside of your job responsibilities, speak up! Say when it happens that it's not for you to do. And go to a manager and explain the situation and how the tasks being handed to you are outside your job description. If you let it happen, it will keep happening.
I have and my manager is okay with it, and rationalizes it to avoid conflict and continue expanding my role 😭
I started calling people out on not doing their own work and trying to pass it along to me. I got sick of being the nice guy and just taking it because people don't just get to dump their work off on me. I would start calling them out. I bet you they will stop with the shenanigans.
Unfortunately this is happening everywhere. “Due to my present workload, I cannot accommodate any additional projects at this time. I have to prioritize the projects so and so has me working on.“ “The scope of my expertise may not be a great fit for the things you’re asking me to do.” “I don’t have the capacity for that at the moment, I’m already suffering from burnout from my present projects and adding additional responsibilities is not something I can accommodate”
I hear your organization is good for that. Move on. You’re better than that and deserve more. Now a days if it’s not in my job description. I don’t do it
Call it out. Go to a manager or ombudsman and express your concerns. Stay positive and keep your head up, do a good job but don’t take orders from those who are not your supervisors. If the gaslighting is happening from your boss and you feel that nothing will change, plan an exit strategy and get another job. Best of luck !

Accept and move on
I feel like you’re one of those people that dump stuff on others lol
Start saying so and so has me doing this today.. they'll realize
I think that could be interpreted as passive aggressive... I have no idea how to phrase things sometimes so that I can avoid any potential for negative interpretation, ugh!
I appreciate that it is easiest and probably the path of least resistance to just accept it, but it will more than likely only get worse. Kind of the same situation as doing too much every day, and then that is the minimum expectation, you try to back away from that, and it’s an ordeal.
The more you do, the more they expect. No good deed goes unpunished
I say: the people that work the hardest, the most effective, the best time manager, are the ones that get rewarded with more work. You have 3 options.
1) Play dumb. Playing dumb makes your colleagues desperate. Most of us don't want to put up with foolishness so yeah, Playing dumb is option 1.
2) Play busy!!! I can't stress this enough. Playing busy helps in two ways, 1 getting your work (and your work only) done, and 2, it helps YOU leaving work at work.
Allow me to explain. If you are overwhelmed by other people "dumping syndrome" You will take your dissatisfaction and anger home. You will be like: I can't believe lazy Lucy gave me her work to do! Because of that, I wasn't able to finish... all those negative thoughts are brought home.
To play safe and MENTALLY healthy, PLAY BUSY!!!
Tell people, I'm so sorry, I'm trying to catch up with my own assignment. If you want to play nice say: Once I'm done with all my assignments, I'll see where you are at, and I will figure out what I can do to help! And wink your eye!!! And never come back to that person.
3) option 3. If the tasks being assigned to you are within your job description then, find a way to multitask, learn time management strategies, and get it done, or switch jobs.
Keeping employees overworked, overwhelm, open doors, and make room for mistakes.
I love playing safe AT ALL TIMES!!!
We all have good days and bad days. I try to read into my employees. If I see any of them is having a rough day, I take work from them, I also maximize the day they are being productive.
Being a manager or a leader is like being a magnifying glass. In my case, I'm not just here to give orders, I'm here to assess situations, and manage expectations.
Adopt and practice from the options given the one that fists YOU the most. Wishing you
Good luck, and a Happy Life!!!
I know how to say no I stop caring , that was the problem
That sounds tough. It's important to set boundaries. Document your tasks and conversations to have a clear record. If it continues, consider discussing it with HR. You deserve a fair workload!
Not sure how long you've been at the company. But for me, more tasks mean more money especially if outside of your hired duties and if you are a good employee....time to think about negotiating pay
I have had this happened recently and I gave my boss feedback after I did more research on my job description and what is on the union language. If you feel like tasks are being over loaded or its not part of your duty, make sure you point that out to avoid work exhaustion.
That’s also why i LOVE the grave yard shift at the hospital i work at. It never hppens on the overnight. Everyone just wants to get through the night
Document ! Document! Document with proof, dates and times is an absolute must.
If you’re a nurse, use the line “No, it is a risk for my license to be taking on these additional tasks. This also poses a risk to patient safety by having me take on more tasks”. They can’t argue with that. If they do, take it to upper management and get out the handy dandy ANA code of ethics to discuss your responsibility to maintain safe practices for patients. There are multiple provisions that mention this and even one that states it is your duty to resign if an organization continues to refuse to meet the standards of nursing practice and continues to cause unsafe patient environments. This includes overworking staff. Reiterate the importance of your responsibility to promote patient safety above anything else. If you aren’t a nurse, please look for a code of ethics for your title. You should also be able to reference the organization’s policies. There has to be policies about safe practice, patient safety, and safety for the staff. If they are especially asking you to do tasks that are not within your scope of practice, it is a high risk for error and harm. So if it is really bad, please just get out of there!

I also wanted to say, what helped me stand up for myself more was watching the Radonda Vaught trial. This nurse was put in unsafe conditions like we are all subjected to on the regular. She was given too many tasks and therefore was unable to slow down to make her safety checks. It resulted in a patient’s death, loss of her license, jail until her trial. Luckily she did not get sent to prison. Could have been any one of us. She has a lot of trauma from what happened to her. The errors she made can be seen as easy ones to make working in those conditions which we are all put under. I encourage you to look up her story. It really helped me to learn to not put up with anything unsafe anymore. There was literally a movement called #iamradondavaught where many nurses stood at DC and outside the courthouse she was at, protesting for safer conditions and rights and also protesting that she was being criminally charged. Nurses only get criminally charged if there was intent to harm and that was not her case. This case caused many nurses to decide to leave their unsafe organizations or to leave the profession altogether
