To the poster above, those working unnecessarily long hours could be losing the agency money based on how scopes are signed. Unless your client pays actuals, they could be overworking the account.
Damn 72 has a late-night-for-no-reason problem.
Wth is a XenoPsi?
Agree with @BSD1. Just because you work more hours doesn't mean you know how to manage your time.
Unfortunately in this industry perspective is reality. I still try to leave before 6 but am always checking email on my phone at night. People don't realize that you don't have to be at your desk to work. Ugh.
there are so many parents at our office, there's no way that can be ok
Are you being paid to stay late? No. So, leave.
^Correction, you absolutely can. I was fired because I could get all my work done, and done well, in 50 hours or less. But "people are working 80 and 90 hour weeks, so it makes them irritated and they want to know why they have to work so much." So, yes. You can be fired for being good at yoir job, while the people that suck at their job and need 90 hour weeks will be safe.
If you're working till 9-10 every night you aren't working very smart. You're not getting paid any more than you would working 8 hours and the client likely has an hours cap on what can be billed.
A recruiter called me about xenopsi once. Thought it was the printer company.
I would argue that it's not as direct as favoring those who bill more. It's not that rational. It's more the mindset of, the more hours you work, the harder you must be working. Which is: A) bullshit. and B) 110% an advertising mindset.
Any business model that depends on people working 80 hour weeks is not a healthy business model. You are better off elsewhere
Also. Some idiots just won't leave. Jumping on every little thing and causing swirl with their excitable, nervous energy. All that ass kissing doesn't make a leader. Gtfo
Remember, those 80 and 90 hours are billable, and those people are earning good money for the agency.
U can't get fired for not working late
Bamboozled again
If you have decent managers, they should be able to allocate a reasonable amount of work to each team member. So that should allow you to do great work, make the client happy, and leave at a decent quitting time. That is how jobs are supposed to work. If you are have to stay because you have so much work to get through, your company isn't managing their creatives well at all and the work suffers because you're spread too thin.
Did this happen??
@gsw or, they are recklessly burning through scope but accomplishing nothing
@PM1 you stole my comment 😂
