McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? 3 to 6 months time frame, commit to studying for an average of 2 hours a day. I read shon Harris's all in one guide then practiced with transcender, also download the cissp mp3 files from cybrary(free). Learn how to eliminate 2 of the 4 options on practice test, when u are left with 2. Go for the option that sounds like what a C level boss decision not the techy one.
Been wanting to break into cyber. Could I take this without any direct cyber experience, to help me break into the area? Current a Tech consultant
It could help if you have no other way of making contacts willing to let you. Depends on what level you are and what role you would be trying to do. If you are a manager and trying to switch it may be a bit late as nobody will want to use a manager with 0 experience.
Cissp is doable without cyber experience you need to have a ton of networking background and know governance lingoes. A lot of it is general tech knowledge
IMO Shonn Harris was over kill for the level of depth for the test but I did it 3 years ago. Found Eric Conrad to be much more closely aligned and easier to read. In terms of switching, certification helps but connections are the best way (sorry, I know easier said than done). Also you'll want to study something on the side. IAM, monitoring, data protection, pick something and start tinkering. Not sure which area in Cyber you are interested.
