It’s your PTO. If someone has a problem with you using it for what you need, then they can plug it. So long as you stay communicative with your management and you give them enough heads up, then nobody should ever make you feel like you can’t take time off.
My friend … I remember back around 2003 I was working for a company and I had built up 2 weeks of PTO and I let my boss know about a vacation we was planning on taking and dude was like, “Well, I don’t know” and I knew where this BS was going so the weekend hit and I told my wife what was going on and Monday hit and before starting work I told my boss I had a death in the family and I was able to go on vacation, lol … Absolutely pathetic but I didn’t necessarily lie because my Mom had indeed passed away back in 1999 but boss didn’t know that.
No but one company held my pto time when I quit and I’ll never forget ts

They’ve tried. I always follow up with “are you suggesting I am not entitled to my earned time”?
Yes… my GM used to always guilt all of us about using our PTO simply because he hadn’t been able to use his. Even suggested I switch to part time because I wanted to use my PTO. 🖕glad he’s gone
I left
Def guilt tripped more than once by my last boss who would take off more than the rest of us. Guilted by them to come in on days off and once I was even an hour away. Was asked to end a vacation early by three days bc/ “there’s no one else”. Other than that…meh
At a lot of my earlier jobs. But working in the kitchen is perpetually busy
Even as a worker with a disability that my workplace knew about (documented since day 1) I was basically fired for requesting 4 days of PTO so I could recover from everyday labor/pain associated with having an implanted medical device.

I haven’t taken a vacation in 3 years but it’s because I’d rather cash out
No. Trying to guilt me into not using pto is a guaranteed way of my pto turning into severance as I will not be coming back.
