Yes! I worked for a startup where I was the only woman in a company of 19 people. I eventually left because I got tired of being spoken down to, other people getting credit for my ideas, being told to "be less aggressive" when I communicated the same way as everyone else. I'd be curious as well how it feels to be a man in a woman-dominated field.
It’s so exhausting when men do that. I was in a similar situation and left for my sanity too
Men are competitive, but in women dominated fields they remove all competition. Nobody is allowed to speak against the crowd, whereas men say whatever they want. You have to be super sensitive otherwise they hurt, and you can never express your real feelings. It all turns into a social game, rather than performance based. Little details take precedence over bigger picture, having a fun job becomes the focus instead of doing hard work.
Tbh I’ll never join a female dominated field again. Absolutely terrible, feels like it’s not even work just a social club
Omg you nailed it on the head! It’s super social and tip toeing around with women dominated fields. With men it is for sure more cut throat and egos being slung around.
Rising Star
Yes it was trippy but a great team (only trippy because all my previous roles were overwhelmingly men)
My current team is pretty well split which is nice
Oh wow must be a breath of fresh air
I work in a field that’s full of women. I think there may be slightly more women than men throughout my company. I work directly with mostly women
As a scientist that is amazing!
