Hello, are there any corporate paralegals on here who would be kind enough to offer some feedback. I have been considering trying to transition into the corporate realm. I have worked in litigation for almost 9 years and I am feeling a bit burnt out and ready for something new.

What does your day to day work entail and what type of experience does this role require? Thank you in advance!

Not a paralegal, but I have worked with litigation paralegals who have stepped in when the full-time one was out of pocket, and they were able to handle the tasks pretty well. I mostly use my paralegal for corporate filings, DocuSigns, record-keeping and helping with the closing process. The latter can be very time intensive.

Corporate paralegal for 5 years here in big law. It’s a lot of fill in the blank type contracts with being able to change up language to fit in their needs.
Forming companies. It’s paperwork basically. Personally I like it but I also help our real estate paralegals with closings so I get a bit of both.

Thank you for your response, honestly the more I read these comments the more appealing the transition sounds.

Hi, I transitioned from Immigration to Corporate Almost 2 years ago. In my case, it’s mostly sending emails to follow up with open items (which can take most of your day sometimes), doing due diligence and redlining documents. But it’s so much more depending on each field.

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I’m currently in FP&A and looking to work at a Big 4, or another company that offers the ability to move abroad. My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.

Hi all,
I graduated during Covid with a double major in business administration and business management with a minor in marketing and magically ended up in sales because I needed a job. I’m about to take a data analytics course to make an attempt to break into that field. I’m currently looking for a mentor to help guide me during this time. Also, if anyone is willing to look over my resume and give me tips on how to make it more presentable for recruiters in DA that would be very helpful. Thanks

Recent lateral junior associate in brand new practice where I'm the only associate. I'm probably going to bill 1,500 hours max this year due to being very slow and taking time off for a delayed honeymoon which I disclosed during my interview process. I have been told my work product is good, I don't turn anything down, I participate in non-billable work, I'm responsive and I always let people know I'm available to help. Do I need to be worried about getting fired for low hours?

Curious as to how many deals at once is typical for a first year associate to take on (M&A, mostly private equity clients). Deal size is lower middle market and I’ve worked on deals ranging from $1-$110M. 2 deals at once is plenty for me, but it seems like my peers are able to take on more than that at once and still do fine. Maybe I’m just a slow learner/out of my league at the big law firm I’m at.

Cross posted: Has anyone ever heard of this type of real estate private equity fund structure:

-One LLC, so only one PPM

-Multiple investments that investors can determine whether or not they want to invest in
-One K-1 per investor based on their investments and income
-Ability for the Sponsor/Fund to invest directly, indirectly and in equity, debt, Pref, etc.
To me this seems extremely cumbersome and would require multiple classes of (cont’d)
