I have found it challenging to get to that next stage and I am unsure if that is because I have a child and I am being too transparent with the recruiters, Can you help me and guide me in how to narrate my situation.

Currently on maternity leave from a small firm with no may leave benefits. Would love to become legal aid duty counsel to get better with life balance and mat leave benefits for kid #2. I received an offer and asked about their parental leave. I don't plan on having kids anytime soon but would like to in 3-5 years and hope I can start a long-term career here. Was that a weird question to ask? The company initially responded that they are rewriting it so I didn't get much detail.

I am not from the US and taxes overwhelm me; the first few years I did them with TurboTax and it was fine but then I entered a domestic partnership and had a baby. I also bought a house (that I don’t live in), so I went to H&R Block to give it a try assuming they could advise me on optimizing my return, it seemed that they are completely transactional as the person is just typing numbers in a form. Any recommendations on how to navigate personal taxes with an actual advisor?

Last year when Covid broke, I received a couple of interview calls but ignored them as I felt the organization kept me at work when other companies cut short their HR staff so I should be with them even if with no appraisal. But now, I was living in the fool's paradise when I am told to leave with no job offers in hand, car and home loan, dependent parents, expecting jobless spouse with a 3-year old kid.

I currently work at a large research institution and am in the process of getting retroactively reclassified to a new title (Long story but my PI is cheap and routinely pays ppl the bare minimum so now the Union is helping me w/ a retro reclass.) I spent 2 years as an SE at my current company and was offered a job at the same company to lead our tech partnerships. I was pumped about the role and increased my OTE by 20%.

After 4 months, the culture of this team is entirely different than sales. My manager micromanages me, is out of touch, and threatened me for having passion projects outside of work.
