I’m sorry about your parent. It’s a difficult battle, for you and for them. Add in the time of year and pandemic conditions…my thoughts are with you and your family.
Thank you. It’s hard! My oldest child is vaccinated along with many children in her school. However, The count of covid positive reported last week through today is almost the highest it has been all year. That adds another layer of stress. Not a great time to switch jobs!

I know people have gone negative, especially in their first year. I don't think there's anything needed, I think you just go negative, but it's possible you need to get approval (and that approval should not be hard to get).

You should be fine. As an SC I’d assume you accumulate around 200 hours in the year. Your balance will be negative for a bit but I’ll balance out.

No one will question the PTO. Is it before year end or after? If after, negative PTO is no concern because you’ll accrue enough to make it up
You should use FMLA - family leave not PTO. Deloitte policy is great. Call leaves team! I’m so sorry you’re going through this. The FMLA family leave is there so you don’t have to worry about pto

D2 and C2, FMLA and family leave are different. FMLA is the federal family medical leave act that protects your job but you have to have been at the job for a certain amount of time for it to apply. It protects up to 12Weeks every 12 months. You can look up the specifics of this federal law online.
Deloittes family leave policy can be used from day 1 and offers up to 16 weeks of paid leave. OP should look into family leave but if they're new FMLA protection won't apply. You can look up the specifics of deloittes fam leave policy on DNet and talk to the ELE team to find out how to use it.
Don't worry about PTO, Deloitte is great for supporting you when you have difficult life situations. Talk to your coach and PPMD about your situation and they will make sure you get the best option that they have to offer. I was in a similar situation as you and I was worried about how everything will play out, I was ready to take leave without pay but Deloitte just wanted doctors note and to tell them approximately how long you need to be away. In my case, I put 3 months, and I was paid for those three months and earned PTO as I worked, and they did not ask me to use any PTO. I just couldn't believe it. I owe Deloitte big time for that kind of generosity. Just AMAZING!
Please explore Deloitte’s family leave plan - it’s for situations like these.
I’m so sorry about your parent. ❤️
Sorry to hear that. I thibk it’s pretty standard practice to go in the bnegaive at Big 4 when you first start. You’ll build it back. There’s also family leave available. Additionally at KPmG our groups sends out notice for people that need extra PTO due to extenuating circumstances so people contribute unused PTO to this persons bank so they don’t go negative which is an amazing gesture I think.

Going negative early on is totally okay and common, as others have said.
