Hi everyone, I'd like to get into logistics or supply chain but i'm wondering how important it is to be good at analytics and what technical skills are involved? Is that necessary just for specific roles or for everything?

Excel and PowerBI! I work in supply chain/manufacturing operations. If you have any powerBI or data visualization experience prior to starting, you will be way ahead of the game for internships and jobs out of school!

As a recent grad, I will say you should be good at excel for pretty much any role. In todays world, analytics is important in probably most/all business functions. I’d also say that most companies probably don’t expect/require you to be good at any technical skills as an intern or new grad. However, there are plenty parts of logistics or supply chain that use technical skills but it varies greatly by role/what you’re doing.

like

Agree with previous statements, excel/powerBI/and ERP or WMS are excellent technical skills to master ahead of interviews. Maybe even a certification for supply chain like APICs CPIm, or ISM

like

Like others said, getting a certificate and also having some knowledge of ERP systems is a good way of getting a step ahead of the competition.

Analytics are important in supply chain management but they're not necessary for everything. For some roles like supply chain planner or analyst, strong analytical skills are essential. But for other roles liek warehouse manager or transportation specialist, analytical skills are less important.

Is it wise to go to my company’s competitor for a promotion and risk burning a bridge?

For context, my small company was suddenly bought out by a large corp. I was about to get promoted to leadership but the new company doesn’t want to honor the title/salary increase we worked out. We only have one significant competitor in our industry, and it’s likely my best option. Love my company, been with them for years, but I’m really struggling with how frustrating this situation is.

I have two questions. I have 10 years of experience in multiple sectors and I have been trying to gain a leadership position. I am attempting my PHR this summer but what are some tips in order for me to obtain a leadership position? Also, how long does it take to obtain another position out of state? I am trying to move to Houston but I don’t want to move until I am confident I can obtain a position in the city before packing up and leaving.

Tomorrow, I know I will be asked to continue pushing forward with pre planned campaigns that upsell products and services that to groups already in dire straits. After the events of this weekend, I ethically disagree with acting “business as usual”. I’ll raise this with my team, but I anticipate a crossroads with leadership (I am fairly new, younger, junior, woman POC to the org.) If this results and BAU does not change, is it more right to leave my job? Or stay where change is needed?

I'm getting a MAcc to career change to forensic accounting. What opportunities are available to me with a data analytics heavy MAcc? I'm also tacking on 2 graduate certificates in Applied Statistics and International Economic Policy? For those in the field, would that be useful or not useful (i.e. waste of time)? I'm interested in investigations but also analytics, financial modeling, and expert witness services. Throw in salary potential for bonus points. I'll be getting my CPA, CFE, and CAMS.

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.

Guys did you hear the big news???

Today I messed up doing a delivery. The client was expecting the supplies at 3pm in the warehouse, however, there was an accident on the highway and traffic was insane. It slipped my mind to let them know about the delay. Now, they believe it was me being irresponsible and are threatening to fire me for not reporting on time and possible losing them a client. It’s very discouraging to continuously receive these rejection emails. With 9 years of supply chain experience, I am not sure why I would not be able to at least get an interview for entry level roles that require no experience. Not just this one pictured but others as well. I’ve applied to maybe 60 positions since May, both mid level and “entry” and no interviews. I’ve had my resume professionally re-written twice. Not sure where the disconnect is. Anyone else going through this same thing?
