Hi everyone! Looking for feedback / suggestions. (6th Grade) I want to do a class read aloud & have students discuss different components & comp skills (types of conflicts, analyzing characters, etc…) but I feel like the high ones will be the only ones who talk, or the students will get off task & talk about other things. Any ideas on how I can gauge understanding w/o them just writing the answers down? I’m looking for a balance of open discussion & accountability.

I’m on the consulting side (FDD) and I’m curious if there are PE firms with good WLB. I’m happy with my pay, growth, and hours. PE interests me but I don’t understand why anyone would want to consistently work 65+ hours a week every week. What’s the appeal? Making double the pay? What’s the exit plan?

Anyone have any good advice for getting students to think/respond on their own? So many times when I ask them to write their own thoughts about something and to explain why they hold that opinion, many students get stuck and/or turn to the Internet.
