Hi everyone! ❤️ This is my first comment on Glassdoor.

I’m 23 and currently looking for my first job. I’ve applied through LinkedIn, Indeed, company websites, and remote positions, but I haven’t had any luck yet. It can feel discouraging at times, but I’m staying hopeful and will keep trying.

If anyone knows of any entry-level, part-time, full-time, or remote opportunities in Red bluff, Corning, Chico, Orland, or nearby areas in California, I’d really appreciate any recommendations or advice.🫶

If you're a recent grad or current student, don't forget to use your college career center and/or jobs portal (like Handshake or Simplicity). They have access to roles specifically for entry level. Good luck!

Please don't feel upset for that, the best is waiting for you in near future !

Thank you so much 🥹❤️ I’m trying to be positive!!

I echo the university career portal route.
Also, network in the geographical area you’re targeting. Reach out to people on LinkedIn with similar jobs to the one you’re applying for and ask for 15 min for their insights into the role, how they got it, etc. if they like you, it could turn into an internal recommendation. Those should at least land you the screener.

Beyond that, just focus on being the best candidate you can be. Make your resume solid, work on your cover letters, etc.

I’m gonna be nitpicky here, but I can already see an area of improvement. This is fishbowl yet your post says Glassdoor. -1 for attention to detail. First impressions are important, so make sure you’re putting your best foot forward. Good luck!

Agreed with everyone encouraging you to access your college's career center. I would also see if there is an alumni network that your college supports (we have a group through LinkedIn at our college), as alum may be more willing to meet with you for informational interviews or other informal chats. Also, check in with college friends who are out in the field as they are can often give you leads and insights into potential opportunities. Try to stay positive, and in the mean time find your temporary job to help with your mindset and earnings. It took me about 10 months to find my current job after graduating in the spring in 2025. I did a lot of hustling during that time, both with working and applying/interviewing, but I think it helped make me a stronger candidate for when I did finally find employment. That time also really made me appreciate the position I was finally hired for. Good luck!!

Second the recommendation of using your college career center. They have a lot of resources or can connect you with alumni that may be able to help provide some career guidance.

Hi All,
I am feeling lost in job. So I’ve applied for Accounts payable they offered 40k. I said why not to gain some experience. I didn’t even bother negotiating which I regret.
Fast forward I noticed that I was eventually handed everyone’s workload (AR & imports & duty and check coworker work + AP) Spoke to them about pay increase based on workload. So they raised it to 55k.. but I still feel underpaid based on the amt of work I do. I don’t know what my title or what to put on resume..
