Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

McKinsey & Company Had McKinsey & Company final round just over a week ago. When I followed up on Friday, the recruiter asked if we could have a phone call later that afternoon. When I provided availability (which was most of the day), no response or phone call. Should I follow up today or just wait for him to get back to me?

I’ve thought I was going to be fired every year for the last 20 years. I’ve been promoted multiple times and I’ve been leading a growing NA practice for the last several years. I don’t know. Maybe I’ll be fired next year. You get over it.
I’ve been here a decade and also felt the same since NGGM - LOL. My wife always asks how I can work among that uncertainty but it is just how it is here. I’m personally at a point where I’m feeling bored/burnt out so trying to find a new home, whether external or within the firm. Please DM me if you’re open to a personal chat. Haha.

I haved saved and invested quite a bit. Have enough cash on hand to keep going for a year at this pace. Significant amount in 401K and IRA. Made sure to jack up my saving/investing percentages every time I got a raise. Bonuses are almost 100% put into investment accounts. The other thing is I keep my network hot. Keep meeting people, maintain contact with useful folks. Regularly doing soft interviews to test the waters
That’s exactly my plan.
Look after yourself. Invest and keep investing. Create a cushion for yourself. Thats the biggest insurance against sudden layoffs.

Life is uncertain, but yet we live! It's like setting that alarm clock to wake up every morning when no one has promised you tomorrow! Something unfavorable will always be in your path, you just gotta keep going!

I hear running a daycare center or a hospice is a very profitable business and can make you rich. And in most cases, you don't need any customers. Almost sounds too good to be true.
IBM1 You might want to rethink the statement that it's in Minnesota only. It's probably in all states with a higher percentage in blue governor states. It's relevant to the discussion, because the point is that people can't afford things and fraud is a major contributor to that issue.
