I was just in an AA meeting and a woman shared that when she’s having a bad day; she showers, does her hair and puts make up on. She does this only for herself- to feel a sense of normalcy and to feel a little bit better about herself that day. Think about that next time you want to tell someone they are wearing too much makeup and it’s distracting to you. It has nothing to do with you. It’s for her.
Thank you for this! I started wearing more makeup than usual during SIP because having a routine keeps me from going into a depression. People are just trying to make it through the day, and sometimes the most put together are having the hardest time—we don’t know.
As a woman, you can’t win. If you don’t wear makeup you’re perceived as less professional and when you glam it up, people pick at that as well. Leave the woman alone🙄

Why would this irritate you? Some people don’t like to be seen without makeup on because it makes them feel insecure. Some people literally just like to get dolled up every day. It’s none of your goddamn business and tbh it’s super sexist of you to comment on it. Let people live.

Leave her alone! Her face and what she choses to wear is NONE of your business! It’s a global pandemic, people are dying, if someone wants to spend extra time on their appearance because it makes them happy — they should! Keep your opinions to yourself and focus on the work.

Doing my makeup makes me feel normal. It makes me feel like I’m living a life and not just trapped in my house. If I want to look like a goddamn movie star for a zoom call, I will.
