How did you decide to accept the job you did? Was it just for money or why did you think this job would be better than others? For me, the money was good but the work also sounded exciting.

I got laid off and needed a role asap. My wife was about to have a baby and I just took the first thing I could land. Now I'm back to looking for other roles because this company sucks, but it's at least a paycheck

It was a combination of the money plus I thought the work would be pretty interesting. And, as luck would have it, it has been pretty interesting. But there was also the issue that I needed a job, and I was really not inclined to turn anything down, so I was lucky that things worked out fairly well.

I got this job the same way I did my wife -- they were the first ones to say yes. I am truly fortunate they did. I love them both. Different kind of "love," of course.

I took my current job to catch up on savings and retirement funds after being a stay at home parent for years. Now that stay for the health insurance for my family.

"Everybody can be a leader" some say... "Leaders are nurtured not born" say others... True.

But... this is also true: "not everybody wants to be a leader" (whether they can or can't be). It is a fairly common practice in organizations with traditional career management structures for people to "be promoted" into leadership roles as the "end steps of the corporate ladder" that was climbed doing technical work. And, unfortunately, this doesn't work all the time

So I have been seeing a guy for 4 months. We have a pay disparity.. he earns less than I do (by quite a bit). He has mentioned a few times that he’s worried I’ll get bored of him when I know he can’t afford the same things I can. I think we are beginning to move past this, but now he’s starting to mention things like ‘I am really broke this month’, and last weekend he told me his mum has lost her job and he’ll have to probably pay her rent. I have a lot of sympathy for his situation … tbc

I feel like I was straight up lied to during the interview process. “lots of opportunities to hit quota”. I’m sitting here with only one demo two months after joining the company. it looks like our team has only two people doing demos, and demos are only happening once every two weeks. At this rate, I don’t think I’ll be even close to hitting OTE. Are there any other companies hiring right now? I’ll have a discussion about my concerns with my manager soon, but there’s too many red flags here.
