What prompted me to get serious about moving on a while back was just that I couldn't see any path for advancement where I was. Things were not really awful at all, but it just felt like I'd be spinning my wheels for a long time. It felt like a difficult decision to make, but it all worked out, so in retrospect it seems it was the obvious thing to do.

In a bit of the same position myself, not in a terrible spot, but also feeling like I could be in something better too. My biggest concern is trying something else and feeling like it isn’t as good as what I have now. Kind of like the evil you know. Not really sure when/if I’ll know when to make the change, think I still have a while yet.

Exactly when I started to get bored with my job and I wasn't getting any fulfilment out of it, only stress.
That’s when I knew. When I felt no growth and no desire to go to work anymore. I’m leaving soon and need something new.
I would say you are there logically in terms of it making sense to move roles but at the same time with everything like brings in terms of instability it will be an internal battle for you until you make a decision. That being said I hope whatever you do works out!
