How do SM, MD, Partners create a book of business for audit, Corp tax or FDD/TAS?

Hi Guys,
I am from mainframe technology having 7YOE.
Planning for a job change as my current organization is not having much scope.
Can someone please guide me on which topics or area I need to focus more on to clear the interview.
I have given a few interviews and haven't cleared it so I'm feeling very low at this point of time.
Any help would be appreciated

What's the most common way to make long-term friends in the city (29F)? I came to the city alone and don't really know anyone, and being in a remote work situation doesn't really help with socializing with coworkers. I'm usually very committed to friendships but also heard NYC peeps "come and go" from various sources :/

I’m looking to leave technology risk (IT audit), and get into an industry M&A accountant role. Any advice on how to spin my current experience on my resume for this type of role?
I’ve run budget on my teams but that’s about as close as I can get to any ‘relevant experience’.

For your resume, how many bullet points under your XP with your firm straight out of college is too many? I’m a senior and don’t have anything else since college that’s relevant. Also, how do you feel about a small section above the bullets detailing the position (where the bullets are more about your achievements in the position)

Anyone work in financial accounting advisory? Or internal control advisory? How are the hours and pay over there?

On job descriptions are the years of experienced required section usually accurate or recruiters trying to get overqualified candidates? Let’s say I want to apply for a position that requires 4 but I have 3.

Do you always submit a cover letter?

Accepted an offer recently (last week) and haven’t heard back from the HR regarding a confirmed start date (we discussed dates but didn’t nail down in offer letter) or background check, is this stuff that normally takes time to get set up? Thanks

How hard is it for a Staff II in audit to transition to Tech Risk Management at EY or the other big 4 for that matter? Or would it be easier to move to a mid sized firm for a position like that.

What’s it like working at a big fund accounting shop vs a smaller one? Which would you choose if given the choice? Or just big vs small departments in general

How do search for non-audit roles that are within reach for someone with core audit experience? Everyone seems to go straight to another firm’s M&A as if that’s the only option.

Was so close to switching from IT Audit to software engineering and then a global crisis occurs. Tough to keep my head up.

Do you guys think that when you make the switch to industry you should try to land a job at a public company? I want to make $300-$400k eventually as a CFO one day and I think that going into a public company will get me there instead of switch to a private. What do you think?

Considering a job change that would allow me to work from home and keep my kids home a few days a week. Working from home with a 1 year old and 3 year old is stressful, but also reminds me...

I think I’m ready to finally take the plunge and start looking for positions outside public. I’m not sure as a first year senior what I would qualify for or common roles tax seniors exit to. I would definitely be open to no longer working in tax.

Thoughts on leaving the firm for industry job in tax as staff with 1 year experience. My main goal is a better WLB, I want a 40hr week. Will industry jobs provide that for me at relatively the same pay?
