When and how do you push back on people senior to you? Fifth year dealing with supersenior associate (11th year) who completely lacks good judgment & common sense. One of those super smart but impractical types. As just one example, he recently called me to tell me to call someone who’s on vacation and ask them to send a calendar invite. I offered to send myself but apparently that wouldn’t work (presumably because it would be efficient & make sense.) At what point (and how) do I Just Say No?

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

I plan to take the test beginning of august. My goal was to complete the video/ chapters/ and do a first go at the questions during my time off.

Does having planned time off nullify a full time employee’s ability to use the C19 sick leave if they become sick just prior to the planned time off? (I’ve only been able to find references to eligibility being based off of hours work preceding C19 sick leave - nothing about planned time off)

Holiday Season - at my former company, around this time of year I would have already gotten a ton of gift baskets etc. - not something I would ever take home but open up for the team and leave out. Started somewhere new last November, have dealt with multiple firms in various regions of the last year, many of which have billed several $100ks, have yet to receive anything. Tomorrow they are requiring masks again and I was almost in tears when I found out. We have been mask free (recommended) since June and I feel like we are being muzzled again. I am vaccinated, frustrated, and have been off of antidepressants since March. I don’t even want to go into work tomorrow. Anything is better than being virtual and I am trying to look at the bright side, but moving backward still burns. We have parent-teacher conferences coming up and I am hoping that it’s temporary.
