How often do you see a promotion made in the middle of a cycle? Have been told by my manager that they will consider giving me a promotion in a month but our company’s review cycle is in May. Is this likely or should I not expect anything from it? I am not keeping my hopes up but just wanted to test the waters with other perspectives.

Do I go for a promotion even though I’m being told it isn’t a home run? Is there a backlash/ detriment to declaring for one and not receiving? Would I be wasting folk’s time? This is my first run at a promotion outside the Army.

A HR question I really want to understand. ISRS HR quoted a podcast "The not so great resignation" saying 70% regret leaving and many want to go back to old employer. If this really the case the employee likely left due to higher pay at the new company. If they want to boomerang back they will likely come back at even a higher rate than they left the new company for. So getting double raise when they boomeranged. Isn't it unbeneficial, why not just give employee a 7% raise in the first place?
