Whenever you want, games are for kids
Went searching for this a few weeks ago when I was in the same situation and responses were all over the place.
Communication is huge for me. So I aim for 1-2 times a day, good morning text to start the day and a couple of exchanges before bed asking how their day went. If someone can’t take the time to respond to that, they’re probably not the right match for me.

Text when you have something to say or when you want to ask a question, don't overthink it. IMO- the "good morning" texts are overrated.
Do The Work podcast by Sabrina Zohar has her 2nd episode dedicated to texting and dating. She says this and I agree with her- you should not be texting all day, every day when you first start dating. It builds a false sense of intimacy and it's adjacent to love bombing.
My general rule- I want to hear from someone at least every other day for the first few weeks, but at long as consistent dates are happening, then hearing from someone is less and less important. You can't truly get to know someone over text- you have to spend time with them.
I agree you should not be texting all day and texting is not meant to be a substitute for quality time in person.
The good morning/night texts are more a way to show the person I’m thinking about them. We’re not having full blown deep conversations in these exchanges.

Been on two dates. We text everyday, good morning text and throughout the afternoon / evening.

We didn’t say the word “like” but based on flirty messages and physical touches, it is kinda given at this point
Thank you CS1. I was getting worried I was the only one not into good morning good night texts. I agree text when there is something exciting to share and ask.
