How to gently/professionally explain to those new to the US, that personal aroma/body oder is a very important? Met a family @ church from Africa. I took the mom shopping. I made a point to stop by the deodorant & explained that BO is a “no-go. She later got a job @ my company. CWs knew our personal relationship, they would come to me asking questions like “Does X have a washing machine? BC they all smell like fish.” I eventually began informing our coworkers to take it up with admin.

Maybe they don’t understand clothes are generally not reworn, showers are taken daily, etc. Think about the entirely different culture they are experiencing.

Do you think saying to wear deodorant solves all hygiene related issues? I get it’s an uncomfortable conversation to have but you already took it upon yourself to start the hygiene conversation.

Put HR on it and they’ll take care of it so you don’t have to.

I guess all of this hinges on everyone smelling ultra clean all day. Most people want to smell good all day long. I know I do. After a few trips to the restroom and actually doing your job (if you have to lift your behind off of your desk chair) everyone smells a little less 💯. It's even worse with folks that feel perfume or cologne fixes that. A lot of people in foreign countries do not use deodorant and usually wash in the coldest temp water to close their pores. A private conversation with her might work. Please smell your personal best.

My last therapist keeps coming up in my mind. I left her when I moved to a new area before COVID dug in and frankly it felt like leaving a girlfriend. She also disclosed in the final session that she was a member of AA and knew several of the people I occasionally discussed from the rooms. Her knowledge of the program certainly built trust with me early on, but it has been two years. I discussed it with my current therapist but she’s still in there. Any advice?

How does everyone bill for family law matters? Do you always bill hourly or is there some flat fee, monthly or quarterly fee structure that could work, even in contested matters? I have cases that the clients end up spending $20-$40,000 on a contested divorce and this is really out of their budget. I feel that if my firm could charge a flat fee of $10-$15,000, it would still be beneficial from a client predictability and volume standpoint and would generate more referrals.

I’ve gradually moved on from ex-bf from 1y ago, but still to this day have this greatest fear that I’d crumble if and when I hear he is getting engaged or married to someone.

I wanted a life with him but he couldn’t see it with me (midway of our relationship) or with anyone before me. I do wish him to find his happiness.

It’s just that feelings of unworthy, unloveable, not chosen by someone you love so dearly continue to haunt me after all these times. Anyone has tips to get through this?

I feel trapped abroad and locked in a dysfunctional system. We're just in limbo, it's depressing
