I got a call from a Bain recruiter I’ve talked to a few weeks ago to apply for their AC class. I’m about a year and a half into the workforce now and have considered looking at BCG & McK as well as a few other boutiques (I had interviewed with one or two as an undergrad but didn’t receive an offer).

However, I just started a new job I do like (about 5 months in) after having a job for almost a year before leaving. Management consulting is the dream but would y’all move so soon?

I applied for a job within my unit that I do not qualify for. Now, I have an interview for this job. Me knowing I do not meet most of the qualifications for this position has my imposter syndrome thinking I shouldn’t even do this interview because it would be a waste of time. I was just informed after the third round of interviews they’d like at least 5 references, two must be supervisors. My last job was a temporary remote job where I didn’t really interact with my supervisor and the jobs before that were at my family’s business (I do not speak to any of them for serious personal reasons.) How do I leave my role as someone on the talent team. I am on a small recruitment team of only a few people, who connect daily. I am an m&a junior at a firm that is generally considered a lifestyle firm (pay below market but target hours are lower unless pushing for partner). Over the pandemic period, we have had so many senior associates and paralegals leave that there is no one to ask questions to and I’m doing paralegal work (we are all in survival mode). I’m not convinced the partners in my team (who are aware of the problem but cannot convince management) can recruit people to replace given we pay below market.
