Remind her that she's an intern. for over a year. How is that even possible?
SNACK 'EM
I'd remind them that recommendations from the people at their agency are essential to either getting a job there or elsewhere and as such he would do well to ensure he's creating a better impression with you by not behaving that way.
How has an internship lasted over a year? Damn. I'd be raising my voice at people too.
regardless of whether they're on the payroll or not, it's highly inappropriate to raise your voice at people in the workplace. Perhaps it's best to notify their supervisor... and then snack 'em.
Play politics. I had an analyst who would get angry when I asked about their work. I would find mistakes and politely and respectfully ask how they arrived at certain conclusions, but to no avail. When they tried pulling the "I don't really have time" card I told her to email our SVP saying "she didn't have the time for it." She miraculously found time to complete the work instead of emailing our SVP
Is karate chopping someone to the throat acceptable?
Very nicely express your concern. Make them the problem. Make the problem feel massive, career-changing. Let the blood run cold in the intern's veins.
There is a really great program called Own The Room about public speaking, running meetings and overall professional conduct. Highly recommended. After taking that, nobody raises their voice to me without getting a verbal bitch-slapping in return--(in a completely spiritual way of course!) seriously though, I am prepared for any situation, all the way up to Shit-talkin CIOs.
But what level are you?
Ya best to do is remind them that they are NOT hired and that shit u say gets done
What is playing into the stereotype going to achieve? It sounds like there needs to be a frank conversation about the tone of his voice. What ever his message is, it going to miss it's mark because no one is going to receive it. This is a teachable moment for this guy and for you to learn how to tackle difficult conversations.
Snack them down WWE style 👍🏻
I'm a mid level strategist @copywriter1
Remind them they're an intern
How are you a mid level strategist getting owned by an intern?
Use empathy. We all tend to forget that we weren't always high on the totem pole.
He is still in undergrad and has decided to stay on fall, spring, summer, this current term (fall 16), and next term (spring 2017). I'm older and on payroll, but there's no respect given to me from him. Just attitude
Fired
@SearchLead1 I wouldn't say getting owned. I'm just new and trying to figure out everyone and the dynamic of the team as this intern may be related to someone here or something. The team puts up with his remarks because he speaks and it's best to not play into the stereotype of the angry minority but perhaps I need to
