Don’t simp over a company. Google is a boring mega Corp and like 1% of the company does interesting work
One of my friends is doing her MBA at a top 10 school and her husband is a barista. They married very young, she grew exponentially in her career, he stagnated. The pressure on their marriage is real and visible. I hope he scores a huge jump like this! Good luck to you as well!

Do you have someone who can refer you or intro you to a hiring manager?
What was the role? I’ve interviewed there 5 times and all for roles I didn’t exactly expect myself to be qualified for. For some roles, they hire people who have untraditional experiences. Maybe the barista had other relevant experiences, etc.
I’m looking at learning and development roles of all kinds. And more power to the barista for getting that role, I can’t even get an interview.
How do you find out who got the job? Genuinely curious as I stalk some roles
I can’t be certain who actually got the role I apply for but I’ll occasionally look at the titles of jobs I’ve applied to an look for people with those titles on LinkedIn. I applied for the learning and development role about 4 months ago and LinkedIn shows that the barista I was referring to got the role about 2 months ago so I assume he applied to the same role. I also have the LinkedIn recruiter license so I can click through as many people as I need to see recent hires.
