I have stayed at home for the past 4 1/2 years raising my family and it's time to get back to work. financially we need it. i have tried to keep up with my field but dont think i have done enough to keep "fresh". we are really doing badly $ and i need to find someone to give me a chance asap. how realistic is that? originally i planned on doing some pro bono work first and then start looking for work in a few months, but things are really tough financially. i don't know where to start

There are agencies that will connect you with firms on a contract/assignment basis. This may help alleviate finances while building up your skill set again. I’d also try reconnecting with people in your networks or apply to small, few-attorney firms to start.

Check out companies like Chase that offer reentry programs for people who are seeking to recenter the workforce: https://careers.jpmorgan.com/us/en/students/programs/reentry-program?search=&tags=location__Americas__UnitedStatesofAmerica. If you need something quickly I would try Legal Aid and reach out to your network. Good luck!

Maybe even getting referred? I have a deep knowledge of investments and always felt inclined to go down this route.

I'm getting a MAcc to career change to forensic accounting. What opportunities are available to me with a data analytics heavy MAcc? I'm also tacking on 2 graduate certificates in Applied Statistics and International Economic Policy? For those in the field, would that be useful or not useful (i.e. waste of time)? I'm interested in investigations but also analytics, financial modeling, and expert witness services. Throw in salary potential for bonus points. I'll be getting my CPA, CFE, and CAMS.

While billing 2k in a year with kids at home all day is nuts, you will not get better balance in a small pltff firm. Small firm partners are allergic to WFH, and can't afford to be flexible with when an associate gets to their work. The support of a larger firm is what has kept me alive this past year.
