Which one to choose between Optum and Tiger Analytics for Data Scientist position? Where can I expect better data science domain expertise (In my previous companies I found very less understanding of Data Science practices as team)? Heared good things about both of these. Also hearing Tiger is expanding rapidly and getting some crap projects as well in the name of data science. Could someone put light on these things?

So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Hi Fishes,
I am a python developer with 3+ years of experience. And now I am thinking of learning c++ . So guys can you help me with these questions which are coming in my mind:
1) Is it worth learning C++ at this stage.
2 ) If yes what kind of opportunities I can grab by learning C++.
3) How much hike can I expect by learning C++ on my current CTC.

Thanks in advance 🙏🙏.
“People in Toronto are really loving this billboard right now.” Why? Just why, NFA? I’m not sure what I’m more upset about, the creative or the obvious attempt to make a bland piece of creative something people care about by pushing advertorials about that bland creative that makes it sound like the next coming of Benetton.
“I was pleasantly surprised, though because I'm cis gender and a boomer. “ says Boomer that’s actually a 28 year old social media manager. https://www.blogto.com/city/2022/10/people-toronto-loving-billboard-right-now/

Only YOU can determine what’s best for YOUR life. Drown out the noise. Congrats on knowing what you want (and don’t want) and pursuing it. That beats living in the prison of others’ expectations.
No. Trust your judgment. It's your life.
No mistake, you relied - correctly - on your own knowledge.
Your career is no one else's business. Good for you for realizing you didn't want it and seeking out something that works with your life, wants and desires. The pension alone is something most employees would leave for.
No you did not.
Congratulations. Going in-house was the best thing I ever did. A government legal job will give you a sane environment and a life.
You 100 percent did not
I totally understand and it's ok! I also thought that my current job is really suitable for me and really happy when I joined, turns out I didn't really like it. Thankfully it's just a contract position and now I'm looking for more suitable job:)
As someone who had been self-employed for a very long time and is now working temporally for a government - I absolutely see the benefits. It´s safe, doesn´t kill you workwise and you practically have zero resposibility for anything at all...but that is why I personally am glad to leave this well paid position again - because I find it mind-crushing. But as was said before - if you are happy with your decision, by all means do not let anybody - least of all your parents - tell you what is right or wrong for you. And if you change your mind in the future - then just get another job. You can still be interesting for the free economy after you leave the government....;).

Congratulations on making a difficult decision. It’s your time, life and money. If you decided to protect your peace and happiness, only you know what that is worth. Celebrate your decision and there will be plenty of opportunities to find something better (more money and still good WLB). Partnership is hard to come by and having an opportunity to be partner is an achievement. Don’t let others calculate what your peace is worth and give yourself a pat on the back!
Maybe. But time will tell, you had your reasons, and, in addition to seeking validation here, you presumably had some good inputs into the decision.
You’ve got your priorities straight. Listen to yourself and follow the path that makes you happy.
I have been a partner in a large defense firm and I switched sides to help victims of workplace misconduct. The defense partner years - 7 in total - were very rewarding in terms of money, leading cases, and being surrounded by lots of smart interesting people but the 90 plus hours per week really were life sucking. It took me several years to un learn defense tactics but switching sides was the best thing I ever did for myself. I now feel like I help people instead of corporate budgets. And 75 percent of the year I work forty or fewer hours. It took some time, but I’m now exceeding the comp I made as a defense partner and i am much happier and more balanced
