I lead a team alongside a peer and we don't see very much eye-to-eye, to the point that we've had disagreements and clashed in front of everyone multiple times. I'm pretty much at my breaking point, and I want to request to be moved to a different project. Would doing such mess up my reputation?

Yeah, to be honest I really wouldn't do that. I'm sure that this situation is extremely difficult but part of our professional lives is to figuring out how to navigate different personalities and perspectives. You don't want to be the one that can't cut it. I know that's a harsh truth but I think it's the truth

Sometimes it is difficult to work with peers who we don’t see eye to eye with. Try to not take things personally. Try to change your perspective: everyone is doing the best for the project and the team. Change in mindset has helped me manage my relationship with difficult coworkers better.
Moving to a different project may set a bad precedence for you. You maybe seen as difficult to work with. Navigate the situation with utmost care. If things are really bad, and moving to a different project is the only way, then go for it.
Good luck!

Life is way too short to be miserable at work , you’re not expected to see eye to eye with everyone you work with, I mean that’s not even realistic . Personally I would have way more respect for someone who did what they could to make it work but realized it was a detriment to the success of the team to layer in unneeded chaos. If the issue is not immoral or unethical and the option is available I say, do it!

How long before the project is implemented? If you are the lead PM, can you address this with their manager? Have you been at the company longer than them and successfully launched other programs? Requesting to be moved will be perceived differently depending on these things.
One of the primary requirements of the PM role is having effective leadership skills. The translation of this is having the ability to navigate challenging and difficult personalities both on the team and on the customer side.

Hi 👋. I posted here a few weeks ago about being nervous conducting a PIP conversation with my team member.
I did it this week and let me just say it was the weirdest conversation ever. The guy is usually argumentative and tries to disprove every bit of feedback. But this time he just sat there and asked no questions and said nothing.
Maybe he’s looking for new jobs already - don’t mind this at all and this would be a good outcome for him overall.

How do I leave my role as someone on the talent team. I am on a small recruitment team of only a few people, who connect daily. If I am looking to leave my company, considering all of these things, how do I do it in the least awkward, most professional way possible? "Everybody can be a leader" some say... "Leaders are nurtured not born" say others... True.

But... this is also true: "not everybody wants to be a leader" (whether they can or can't be). It is a fairly common practice in organizations with traditional career management structures for people to "be promoted" into leadership roles as the "end steps of the corporate ladder" that was climbed doing technical work. And, unfortunately, this doesn't work all the time
