I LOVED using intuit Mint app to track my spending but now that the app is moving over to credit Karma what is the next best app to track finances, net worth, etc?

Any thoughts on nerdWallet?

like

Honestly - no real challenges. Nerd Wallet is just 100% free and I felt like a refreshed finance view would inspire me to revamp my money goals. Rocket Money was starting to just be white noise in terms of notifs on my phone lol

Excel spreadsheet with all the categories you use? At least it won’t get acquired (knock on wood).

Monarch is nice

Following. I’m very upset about the mint shutdown. Credit karma is terrible

What’s so bad about credit karma?

Empower, used to be personal capital, is my favorite for net worth and portfolio tracking. It’s not as good for budgeting like mint was though

like

I used Mint for at least a decade, likely more.
I switched to Monarch - it is $50 for the first yer, but I feel like I can move up to paying now that I’m not broke. Love user interface. Simple import of my mint data as well.

like

Got an email from Monarch this morning that said apple card has been integrated! Thought of you!

like

I love rocketmoney!!! It does everything I need for budgeting. Use empower for the whole portfolio

like

I love YNAB

like

I am in the same boat, not sure if I want to transfer my accounts to credit karma.

I created an excel sheet that I just update and use

Will be moving to the Bay area for a new job which pays a bit under 200k. I know SF is very expensive so just trying to gauge what would be a reasonable amount to spend on rent. I have no debt and decent savings. Bringing my car with me and will be commuting to Marin most days, but looking to live in SF. Otherwise tend to be fairly frugal and like to cook.

Any thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thursday I got it in my head that I needed to hedge against potential Dollar devaluation. I looked at other market funds thinking them to be good proxies for other currencies.

I decided to pick up a few but saw the Baltic Index was going up, higher shipping rates means increased demand, so it pointed to the Chinese economy picking up significantly.

I looked at FXI, there was no option interest so they were super cheap. I figured I pick up a bunch.

I spent the last 3 months "growing up" & now I'm ready to go. 1st thing is for me to get my own place. I'd like to buy instead of rent because I don't want to pay someone else's mortgage.

I'm thinking of selling my car & cash out some of my 401k to buy a house. My thought is to put down 3.5% for a FHA loan then make a big payment towards the principal to reduce long-term interest.

Anything wrong with this thinking or anything else I should consider?

Under contract for nearly 1.1M. Wife and I are at HHI $315k. Will go up in the future, $400k in 3 years and $500k possible in 5-7 years. We have $300k in non-retirement funds, $260k of which will go towards acquiring the house. We have 2 kids and will probably reduce (not maxing) retirement accounts next 18 months to do this. Anyone have any thoughts or feedback? We’ll have to live on a budget and watch but I feel we’ll get used to it and income will grow.
