I have received no response since. I’m so thoroughly confused about the process of getting my work email (it’s no secret knowing my full name and if you know the work format but still, why start a fresh email and not respond in the chain?)
Is this a strange tactic that I can’t figure out the purpose of other than causing loss of trust or likely just a really odd recruiter mistake?

Are you absolutely certain you never accidentally emailed her from your work email? Check your sent folder.
100% certain!
If she knows you work at X she can figure out the email address structure at that company. There are lists that make the rounds here on Fishbowl. Plus she can just guess - many companies are either first initial and last name or first name and last name.
Yeah, like I said in my post it’s easy to figure out if you’ve dealt with the company before- but our emails prior to the call were all via my personal email, then instead or replying on that thread she made the effort of a fresh new email with an email that is guessable but not what she had for me or is anywhere on resumes/linkedin/portfolio. It just seems like a mistake a recruiter for a serious agency would also be aware of and know not to make, and the fact that she didn’t respond to my follow up on the already established *non work* thread of just like oh yeah sure! Will use this email going forward is odd, no?
I’ve also gotten a recruiter emailing me at my work email recently and haven’t responded out of fear it’s a trap lol
Honestly I’ve wondered the same thing, there must be some scheme going on because surely no recruiter in their right mind would do it!
