Paul went on IG Live this afternoon after Karine called the police. I have not watched the video, but bloggers report that Paul accused Karine of drinking in front of their son, domestic violence (shoving him), giving him an STD, and being pregnant again. The video ends with Karine asking to be taken to a shelter. Very sad.

I’m 26 weeks pregnant and trying to figure out my leave. I live in NJ and work at PwC, any fishes know the policy for NJ and PwC? The leave center has not been much help and I want to plan NOW not like 60 days before. I was told NJ gets two weeks before due date and PwC gives you two weeks as well.

You should find a doula or midwife that is experienced in it.
Generally, most doctors don't like operating outside of *their* comfort zone and knowledge base, so a new provider is more likely to give you the birthing experience that you want (if you feel like your current one may not be immediately open to your request).
My wife went with a doula, that connected us to a midwife practice that has OBs that really encourage going with your birth plan, whether that's natural, medicated or whatever your ideal is. Wherever you go, it should go the way you want it to and backup interventions should be determined well beforehand
I would structure your birth plan as a waterfall where you go through (with your doctor) your thresholds for transitioning to the next stage. If you don't go into labour naturally, when will you call it? If you do go into labour but fail to progress, when will you call it?
I also had an emergency C-section after failed induction for #1 and my birth plan for #2 involves skipping directly to a planned C-section with no induction.
Note: I went to 42+1 weeks by my (precise, I tracked ovulation) calculations although only 41+3 by their calculations based on LMP. I had no signs of being close at all. Make sure you are educated on the dangers of going past 42/43 weeks which some people minimise. You should have a backup plan if you don't naturally go into labour. It doesn't have to involve induction (which I now really don't like.)

Not crazy at all, that would be a routine thing the anesthesiologist would ask before giving you anything anyways.
Same! We took a course and they glossed over c sections. I glossed over c sections. Just utter stupidity. And it was emergency anyway so preparation would have done little anyway. My only birth plan was no unnecessary interventions, and they started pushing interventions within minutes of arriving to the hospital. The whole thing was easily avoided and unnecessarily traumatizing. We need to do better for birthing women!!
I had a VBAC in March that I was very satisfied with. I think you can do it too!
When you say you didn’t dilate enough, does that mean you were induced? I had my c section after a failed induction, which is a fairly common outcome. For my second VBAC I waited until I went into labour naturally (at 41+1 days!!) and things went much more smoothly.
If you don’t have a VBAC, I think you’re totally reasonable to ask for general anaesthesia. Depending on your anxiety levels you could perhaps also ask for a scheduled c section under general.
I am so sad reading this post, it sounds like both DR and hubs aren't being very encouraging. Keep in mind some doctors also have a threshold for mommas with over a certain amount of c-sections. Don't let them pressure you into unnecessary procedures and allow your body to perform what is was made to do. Ultimately, you are the one who will need to recover from either so don't be afraid! Birth is completely natural and doesn't need the interference of doubting minds and sterile technology getting in the way. You got this momma!
You should definitely ask and find a doctor who supports and is willing to work with your decision.
I had an emergency c-section with my first. Currently pregnant with my second and we’ve decided to schedule a planned c-section. I labored for ~60hrs at a birthing center (water, bed, aerial) but I didn’t dilate enough. After 50 hrs we had to go to the hospital. My OB was amazing, she let us have the 50hrs and monitored us the whole time. She left the smallest c section scar. Almost fully gone.
Do what feels best for you and your family. ❤️
I'm not C1 but I had very similar circumstances! I found the exhaustion from a long induced labour (building on top of stress from going to ~42 weeks and being sleepless waiting for the baby to come) was much harder to deal with than the scar recovery. I also struggled to bond a bit with the baby in the first few days as I was so exhausted and mentally focusing on the horrible induction experience.
I am able to arrange my life to have my parents stay nearby for the first 2 weeks (they don't live in the same city so having a date in advance is also helpful) and bring me items and help with kid #1. Basically these kinds of practical issues seem easier to solve than exhaustion and mental stress.
I failed to dilate, and all the women in my family have had unplanned C-sections and there have been no successful VBACs, and I live in a country (the UK) where VBACs are encouraged and I wouldn't say it's overly medicalised so I also don't have good indicators that VBAC will work for me.
Talk to your doctor about it! I’m allergic to morphine and we had to explore other options for my c section too.
Curious what are the allergy symptoms you had? I wanted to scratch my eyeballs out I was so itchy. It was doable but was Hella distracting when I was trying to enjoy my new baby.
I'm about to have my second scheduled c- section and hope they can give me meds to help the itching.
Unrelated to your question but how long did you wait before you got pregnant with your second? I had a traumatic emergency c section too with my first so just curious
I got pregnant when my first was 21 months. We had been trying for a few months, but continued breastfeeding was hindering me from getting pregnant (once I stopped nursing, I became pregnant the next month).
I kept the goal in mind and blocked out thoughts of birth—I really wanted my first 2 kids to be as close in age as possible. I recently realized I need to raise the general anesthesia question & am starting to think about birth again and the fact that a smooth birth might not be in the cards for me
Hell no, it is not a crazy ask. Do what you need to do. Also highly highly recommend listening to the second season of a podcast called “The Retrievals.” You are not alone.
I am going to look into this, thanks for sharing!
Man that is a big fear, I don't blame you. Mine was scheduled so they had plenty of prep time. When they did the test of "can you feel this?" And my answer was adamantly "yes", I don't think they believed me at first. They asked again several times, different ways. "Are you feeling the pressure or you're actually feeling it? Pressure is okay". Nah, I can ACTUALLY feel your pokey thing poking me.
I've got my second c- section scheduled for next Tuesday. Thankfully they were just testing my feeling, not actually cutting me yet. But I definitely plan on speaking up to ensure they check with me and making them slow down enough to be certain.
