Don't lie. You can opt to remain quiet on the matter of your absences in the office, but don't lie to coworkers.
Don’t post anything on social media - less risk of info leaking.
I think it’s more like being conscientious about your colleagues, not trying to tell you that you can’t post about your life. Fwiw, your leadership is being weird. If you asked first and way in advance, not sure why this needs to be so secret.
Rising Star
If you need to post on social media, lock it down - make it a private post only you can see. Then when you leave that job, you can change the privacy settings. It’ll still pop up in your memories of that day each year but you won’t need to worry about them seeing it.
Best bet is to not post on social media about it at all.
Your manager sucks here, they shouldn’t tell you to keep your time off a secret. I either have it off or I don’t.
I assume you submitted your request to be off before the coworkers, and the supervisor denied theirs because of needing coverage? If that’s the case, I’m not saying I am sick. They were denied and it was the supervisor job to provide them a reason, not tell u to lie to them. Proceed with your SM posting as usual.
Everyone can’t all be off at the same time. I wouldn’t feel guilty at all
Actually, they asked to be off, management said no. I asked to be off, management tried to say no but my direct manager said he already approved it so going through them was just a formality. Honestly just a super crappy situation in general
